LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – Police in Las Cruces say they’ve arrested a man suspected of burglarizing at least 10 vehicles last weekend.

They say 24-year-old Isaac M. Bonnett is being held on suspicion of 10 counts of auto burglary.

Detectives say a man was arriving home about 3 a.m. Sunday when he spotted someone rummaging through one of his vehicles.

The resident ordered the suspect out of the vehicle and called 911.

Officers say the suspect later was identified as Bonnett.

He tried to leave the area on foot before being arrested.

Police officers then canvassed the area and discovered nine other vehicles that had been burglarized.

Bonnett was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center, but has since been released on a $1,000 secured bond.

It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
