Approaching storm could lessen fire danger


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Thunderstorms often come with lightning, the main, natural cause of forest fires, but the rains from the approaching storm should diminish on going burns.

There are currently 70 firefighters working to control the Commissary Fire in the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District. The fire has grown to 500 acres this week.

The Red Canyon Fire in the San Mateo Mountains has burned more than 11,000 acres.
