ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – People living in Bernalillo County should expect an increase their water and sewer bill.

Wednesday night the Water Utility Authority approved a rate increase of nearly $5 during the summer. It should go down to about $4 in the winter. The Water authority says the increase is needed to replace aging infrastructure.

Customers will notice the rate adjustment on their August bill which will reflect July usage.

If needed, another increase is planned for July 2017.
