ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – All lanes are re-open on eastbound Paseo Del Norte at Coors after a crash. No word yet on what caused the crash or if there were any injuries.
Court overturns convictions of man serving 29-year sentence
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The state’s court of appeals has overturned the convictions of a man serving a 29-year-sentence. Juan de Dios Cordova was found guilty two years ago for killing a motorcyclist while driving drunk near Chimayo but the appeals court says a judge should not have allowed certain evidence. Deputies entered his home without a warrant and found Cordova drunk in his bed. Cordova will remain in prison while the attorney general’s office considers whether to ask the state Supreme Court to review the case.
Survey ranks New Mexico well for dealing with DWI
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A new survey says New Mexico does well when it comes to taking pre-emptive measures to stop drinking and driving. The state ranked fourth in the country for that category but fell to 49th for criminal penalties of the offense. Overall Wallet-Hub ranks New Mexico 33rd in the nation in terms of how strict we deal with DWI.
Man sentenced for bringing gun to high school graduation
ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A Roswell man who brought a gun to a high school graduation ceremony has been sentenced to a federal prison. Roswell police say a witness spotted 32-year-old Brandon Warford carrying a firearm at the ceremony. Police confronted him and he admitted to the claim. He was prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior felony convictions. He will spend a little more than three years behind bars
