ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A couple’s quick stop in Albuquerque is turning into a longer stay after someone ransacked their RV.
“We saved for a year and a half to come on this trip and now it’s all gone,” said Jessica Jones.
Jones said she’s at a complete loss.
“I opened the door and like panic just like went over and I like looked back to where the bed was and everything was just like all over the floor,” said Jones.
She’s talking about her and her husband’s RV. Jones said the plan was to quickly pass through Albuquerque on their cross country road trip. They stopped in Old Town to eat for less than an hour and returned to their RV with a popped lock.
“My cameras and my laptop were gone and my purse was gone and his backpack was gone,” said Jones.
Jones said most of the items are replaceable, except the memory cards documenting this trip and what was saved on her computer.
“All of our pictures for the last eight years of my niece when she was a baby, my dog that just passed away, all of our trips, wedding pictures, everything is on there,” said Jones.
Also on her computer, eight years of work as a teacher.
“All my lesson plans are on it, all of my credentials, all of my graduate work,” said Jones.
The couple said they now feel stuck in Albuquerque.
“I just want to go home, but I can’t,” said Jones. “I don’t want to leave my stuff here.”
“The cameras we don’t care, we want the pictures, the memories,” said Jones’ husband.
The Albuquerque Museum has a camera in the Old Town parking lot. The couple said their only hope now is to see if the museum can check the footage for clues.
