ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The conception of a one-of-a-kind art workshop was announced today.

The National Hispanic Art Institute and Workshop is a collaboration between the National Hispanic Cultural Center and CNM.

The warehouse is located at 4th street and Avenida Cesar Chavez and will be used by both art students and community members.

The school says that while New Mexico is known for its art, there’s a need for more places for people to be creative.

“This warehouse will prove to be an innovative center, serving as a catalyst, strategically offering support,” Said Veronica Gonzales of the Department of Cultural Affairs.

A main focus for the workshop will be providing low-income students with opportunities. It is expected to open fall of 2016.
