TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Over the weekend, crews traveled to several sites in Miranda Canyon near Taos to clear areas where people illegally dumped trash.
The event was part of the ninth annual Taos River and Land Cleanup. More than 20 organizations pitched in.
Amigos Bravos, the group that led the event, say the participants removed 28 tons of trash from all of the sites, well above the 15 ton goal they’d set for this year.
Environment officials also dug a trench across the road at Miranda Canyon to help prevent future dumping.
