ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – There are a lot of hero’s just walking around the city that you may not recognize, but there is an event coming up that will help you show your appreciation.

On Saturday, June 20, Sneakerz Bar and Grill would like to invite the community to help raise funds for the military service members. Beginning at 9am with a Volleyball Tournament this event will include activities such as a poker run, live music, dunk tanks, raffles, and much more. This event will run until 1:30am. All proceeds go to help the Semper Fi Fund.

The Semper Fi Fund is a non profit that benefits the Wounded Warriors Veterans and their families and provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill, and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. This ensures that they have the resources they need during recovery and transition back to their communities.

Since establishing the Semper Fi Fund in 2004, over 93,500 grants have been issued. This totals more than $109 million in assistance to over 14,000 heroes.

Semper Fi, the motto of the United States Marine Corps, means always faithful or always loyal and this fundraiser wants to give back the faithfulness and loyalty of the community to the men and women who served for our country.
