RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Rancho non-profit got a special treat today.

Paws and Stripes has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Petco.

Paws and Stripes trains service dogs for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries.

The non-profit says the money will help them expand their training and increase the number of veterans they serve each year.

Petco raised the money during its annual Helping Heroes fundraiser.
