Ray Schultz - Taser
Former APD Chief Ray Schultz has downplayed his relationship with Taser International. But two investigations are ongoing into a contract Schultz helped Taser win with the city of Albuquerque.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – In a report released Wednesday night, the city’s Inspector General found former Albuquerque police chief, Ray Schultz, broke city rules in his deal with Taser.

KRQE News 13 first exposed Chief Schultz was making a multi-million-dollar body camera deal between the city and Taser, while he was lining up a job with Taser.

The Inspector General found the chief received meals and flights from the company and found Schultz was promoting Taser soon after he left APD, violating the conflict of interest ordinance. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
