Eddy County to receive much needed money for roads

EDDY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Eddy County will finally be getting the money it’s been begging for to fix up its roads.

More than $3 million of the capital outlay package passed by state lawmakers Monday will go to Eddy County.

Roads in Eddy County have been deteriorating because of the oil boom and all the trucks that travel on them. About $1.2 million will go to repairing and improving roads around the county including building a bypass route for Highways 2-85 and 62 and improving the old Caverns Highway in Carlsbad.

The rest of the money will go to other projects.
