DEMING, N.M. (KRQE) – Thieves broke into a Deming portable classroom and stole hundreds of dollars’ worth of new sports equipment.

Basketballs, volleyballs, tennis rackets, and dodge balls won’t be available to those attending this year’s summer youth league.

A city employee says whoever took the equipment got inside by removing an iron frame from the window.

The thieves also left drug-related graffiti on the chalk board. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
