Thieves break into local food pantry

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – Thieves hit a local food pantry.

Burglars in Belen made off with food and a computer system. Workers say it might have been an inside job.

The computer system is worth about $500 and contains personal information of families in need.

“Anyone who would steal food from a food pantry, and would steal a large quantity, they’re really a little harsh, but they’re guilty of attempted murder,” said Managing Director of the Belen Food Pantry, Robin Hollbrook.

The food pantry serves more than 500 families a month. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
