ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico man killed a bear he says was coming right for him.

The Department of Game and Fish says the 25-year-old was looking for shed antlers in the Lincoln National Forest between Carrizozo and Capitan Thursday night when the bear charged.

He shot it with a rifle. The state investigated and found the man had no choice but to shoot. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
