ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Authorities are investigating what they believe to be a murder in Roswell. The investigation started when a man found the body while driving on his property.

The sheriff of Chaves County says the body has been for a while and they can’t determine if the person is male or female. They did find enough evidence to indicate foul play.

Many people believe it could be the body of 26-year-old Daniel Herrera. He’s been missing since late May.

Authorities say they won’t know for sure until they conduct an autopsy. The autopsy is scheduled for Friday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
