ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A court decided that a lawsuit will move forward against a sergeant who blew through an intersection in his Albuquerque Police Department SUV killing a woman two years ago.
A federal appeals court rejected former APD Officer Adam Casaus’ claim of immunity. That means he still faces a wrongful death lawsuit after he was found guilty of careless driving last year.
Casaus spent 90 days in jail after a 2013 crash that killed 21-year-old Ashley Browder and seriously injured her sister.
He was off-duty and a court opinion today says he “intentionally misused his police vehicle.”
