June is adopt a shelter cat month

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – In honor of June, “Adopt-a-cat” month, the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is offering special promotions.

This month, to help to encourage the community to adopt shelter cats, special promotions are being offered beginning Tuesday, June 2 and continuing through the month of June.

Cat adoptions, for those one year and older, are $10. There is a wide variety of adult cats that fit many different lifestyles and personalities.

Adopting a shelter cat means helping the community with cat over population. There are currently 321 cats at the shelter looking for a home. For those who are unable to keep the cat permanently, but are looking to give back, fostering is available.

All cats from the shelters are spayed and neutered, come with a microchip, first round of vaccines, and a free first visit to the veterinarian.
