Woman threatening to start apartment fire prompts SWAT situation

SWAT Situation

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A SWAT situation at a neighborhood near Zuni and Central has come to an end.

Police said it started out a little are 2 a.m. as a domestic call when a man got into a fight with his girlfriend. When police arrived they say a woman armed with a knife barricaded herself inside the apartment and threatened to set it on fire. Police said the woman also made threats to police. The Albuquerque Fire Department is on scene and officials say the woman did start several fires inside the home.

Officers were trying to communicate with the woman but the say she was able to flee from the apartment and officers.

Police say the woman used a table to hit the man over the head. The man did suffer a sever head injury and lost consciousness but he is expected to be OK.

After several hours of trying to make contact with the woman, SWAT was able to enter the house. Officials say the woman was not inside and may have escaped through a very small passage between the residences.

At this time police are not releasing any identities.
