ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A crook is caught in the act with his three kids and it’s not the first time they have tagged along.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jason Haidle Friday morning for stealing pipe from a business in the North Valley.
According to a criminal complaint, Haidle was stealing that pipe from HD Water Supply near 2nd and Montano. Haidle cut out a chunk of fence at a nearby apartment complex to sneak in.
When deputies went to talk to Haidle, he said he was getting the pipe from a nearby ditch bank. Deputies called HD Water Supply and the manager said $4,500 worth of equipment was missing.
Deputies said Haidle’s three kids who are 15, 13 and 12-years-old were all with him.
In court Saturday, the judge learned those kids have accompanied him in two other crimes since December.
“If the court finds that you’re having contact with these minor children while this case is pending before this court I will remand you into custody on a cash-only bond,” Judge Daniel Ramczyk said. “Do you understand what I’m telling you?”
Haidle responded “Yes, sir.”
Haidle has a long criminal past including forgery and shoplifting convictions. A BCSD spokesman said as of Saturday evening, his kids are with their grandmother. CYFD took them after Haidle’s arrest.
Deputies said he also did about $800 worth of damage to that apartment complex’s fence.
He faces charges of larceny and child abuse.
