Man arrested after stealing from elderly man at ATM

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man is behind bars after robbing an elderly man in northeast Albuquerque. It happened at an ATM outside the Smith’s grocery store near Tramway and Montgomery. Police say the victim had just withdrew $300 when Brett Hubbard approached him and grabbed the money.

He ran off when the man started hitting him with his cane. Police were able to locate him a short time later.

According to the criminal complaint, Hubbard told police he didn’t know the elderly man, but saw an opportunity to take his money.
