Local country restaurant reveals its barbeque recipe

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local country restaurant doesn’t mind sharing every ingredient that goes into their delicious recipes.

Vick’ Vittles Country Kitchen joined KRQE’s This Morning Team to talk about some of the delicious dishes they are serving up and their BBQ sauce with a New Mexican twist.

While most of Vick’s food have the Southwest flair, their BBQ sauce really screams New Mexico with it’s green chile addition.

“I don’t care for the vinegar barbeque, I like the sweet barbeque,” Robert Vick, owner and executive chef, said.

To acquire the sweet taste, Vick uses molasses and then green chile for the spiciness instead of a hot sauce and uses it on his brisket sandwich.

Vick used a smoke trimmed brisket with a coarse black pepper, sea salt, and sweet basil before smoking it for 10 hours.

Once done, he then places the brisket on a hoagie bun with lettuce, tomato, and their homemade BBQ sauce with red potato salad and coleslaw on the side.

Vick’s is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

BBQ lovers can also sit down for dinner Thursday through Saturday until 8pm while enjoying live country and western music.
