New Mexico grade school students prepare for mission to Mars

Mission to Mars

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Hundreds of New Mexico students were briefed today on their future mission to mars.

The 5th graders aren’t actually going into space, but they did learn a lot about the Red Planet at Kirtland Air Force Base.

The future mars colonists have been working all year on their life support systems. Today they got to connect their habitats together, creating an interactive colony you can crawl through.

The 5th graders communicated with team members outside their school by sending them letters that were assigned in English classes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
