Deputy wounded during duty to take part in ceremony

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A Bernalillo County deputy nearly killed in the line of duty will play a special role in the honoring of fallen deputies.

Robin Hopkins was shot by Christopher Chase during a cross city shooting spree in October of 2013, leaving her with a shattered leg and a long road to recovery.

Next week, Hopkins will take part in the National Peace Officer’s Memorial Service in Washington, D.C. Hopkins will place a flower on the memorial wreath in honor of all injured officers.

Among those who will get their name on the wall, Rio Rancho Officer Anthony Haase who died in a car crash on the way to a domestic violence call in October.
