State tennis championships are in full swing

UNM to unveil new tennis stadium

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The High School State Tennis Championships saw rivals collide in the ranks of girls 6A.

Eldorado freshman and second seed Ivana Corley met top seed and sophomore Sarianna Kuuttila in the singles finale. It was a four hour rematch of the Metro Championships between the two, won by Kuuttila.

This time it was Corley reigning victorious. She picks up the state title in 6A with a 6-2,6-1 win.

Melissa Pick of Academy won the girls 5A singles title.

In boys 6A, number two beat number one as Manzano’s Dane Paulsen outplayed La Cueva’s Eli Echt Wilson 6-0 and 6-1. Warren Fulgenzi of Las Vegas, Robertson dominated David Atkins of Sandia Prep to win the A4A Boys Singles title.
