RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Rancho girl has suddenly found herself in a life or death fight and her friends don’t want her to go through it alone. They’re buying hearts and hugs for Hannah.

Last week, 10-year-old Hannah Hurd’s mom took her to the hospital because she wasn’t feeling well. The next morning they were on their way to the children’s hospital in Denver to have a brain tumor removed.

Wednesday, Hannah’s friends at Colinas Del Norte Elementary created a giant get well soon book. Students also bought a chocolate candy and creating a get well card.

Many of them are helping pay for her medical expenses.

“We’re all close…this community really close…so something happened really fast and doing everything we can for them so they know we are here for them in hearts prayers,” Kelly Thomas said.

Family friends have also created a Go Fund Me page.

They say doctors were able to remove most but not all the tumor.

It’s unclear how long Hannah will have to stay in the hospital.
