Community continues to support injured officer

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- On Thursday, Albuquerque Police Department officer Lou Golson was presented with a special gift as he continues on his road to recovery.

Lapel video shows a suspected drunk driver shooting Golson four times after he pulled the driver over earlier this year. He was hit in the leg and broke his hand in the fall.

Golson continues to recover from the injuries and the community continues to offer their support. Mothers Against Drunk Driving gave Golson a quilt to honor his work in keeping Albuquerque streets safe from drunk drivers.

“I’m not very used to people paying attention to what I do. So it has been a little overwhelming, but in a good way,” he said.

Golson, a married father of six, says he wants to get back to work as soon as he can. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
