APD warns against drunk driving on Cinco de Mayo
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police are warning you about drinking and driving this Cinco de Mayo.
“We ask that you drink responsibly, there are plenty of options to help you do that. Call a cab, use Uber, or better yet, have a designated driver,” said Officer Tanner.
There will be checkpoints across the city Tuesday night. Bernalillo County’s tavern taxi program to get a safe and free ride home runs from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.
Judge lowers bond of man accused of raping elderly woman
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man accused of beating and raping an elderly woman in Albuquerque was in court Tuesday. The judge lowered Ernest Casias’s bond from $500,000 to $50,000 because of a lack of criminal history. Police arrested Casias Monday. He was the victim’s handyman. Police say he attacked the 75-year-old woman in her home on Mckinney Street and beat her with a hammer.
Clovis mom facing child abuse charges after son’s death
CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) – The Clovis mother who brought in an unresponsive baby to the hospital has been arrested. Police say they’ve charged Rocio Montanez for child abuse. The 18-month-old had a number of suspicious injuries prompting a criminal investigation into the child’s death. Investigators are now waiting on autopsy results to decide if more charges need to be filed.
