Elephant Butte Lake to be home to 20,000 new residents

Elephant Butte Lake

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, N.M. (KRQE) – Good news is coming for New Mexico anglers.

Elephant Butte Lake will soon be stocked with 20,000 bass. The community raised $21,000 to buy the three to four inch bass from a private hatchery.

The fish will be placed in the lake tomorrow along with discarded Christmas trees and other items that will help provide a good habitat for the fish.

Officials hope the fish will boost tourism and improve the Butte’s reputation.
