ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The city is rolling out its designs for the Bus Rapid Transit plan in the University Heights neighborhood on Tuesday.

The city says it’s gotten positive feedback on the plan so far, but Joe Gallegos with the University Heights Neighborhood Association would rather the city improve the existing bus system instead of tearing up Central for the new one.

The idea behind BRT is to speed things up for drivers, but he worries the plan will compromise pedestrian and bicyclist safety and hurt businesses.

The meeting is set for Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at 120 Vassar SE. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
