Albuquerque lands on ‘best cities for car drivers’ list

After much anticipation, Paseo, I-25 fully reopens

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) –  Rainy days like Monday aren’t common in Albuquerque and that’s one of the reasons the city got on a list of best cities for drivers.

Safer driving conditions because of dry weather, lower prices of the pump and plenty of parking helped Albuquerque land as number five on the rankings from nerdwallet.com. Another big factor was that compared to many cities, “rush hour” doesn’t mean stop and go traffic.

“There are specific times of day that it’s tough to commute across town, but other than that, it’s fairly easy in the off times,” said driver Paul Lucero.

Of course, there are always exceptions: “Traffic can only get so big a lot of times, unless it’s, like, Balloon Fiesta,” said driver Edward Standefer.

Other cities that made the top five were Salt Lake City, El Paso and Kansas City. Omaha took first place.
