ROSWELL N.M.(KRQE)- Police and deputies around New Mexico are looking for a couple that vanished almost two weeks ago. Officials say the disappearance is suspicious.
Family members say no one has seen or heard Raquel Rodriguez and her boyfriend, Abraham Jimenez, in almost two weeks.
“We are still investigating this as a missing person under suspicious circumstances,” said Lt. Mike Herrington with the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office.
The last-known person to have contact with Rodriguez was her son on April 19 in their home. He reported her missing a week later.
Rodriguez and Jimenez live in the country outside of Roswell, but her van was found abandoned a mile from their home.
The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office have not found any evidence of foul play, but believe there is reason for concern. They say the couple had a number of animals that were left without food or water.
“Which shows us that you’re not going out of town, you didn’t prepare to be gone,” said Herrington.
The sheriff’s office also said they are doing everything they can to locate the couple.
“We’ve gone out, we’ve looked around, and we have taken out four wheelers. We’ve searched the entire area where the vehicle was found, as well as the residence,” said Herrington.
They are working with what leads they have but urge anyone who knows something to speak up.
If you have any information call the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say when they found the couples van it wasn’t broken down.
Rodriguez’s son says he last saw his mom at his home in Roswell.
