Deliberations continue for man accused beating, burning man

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Jury deliberations continue in the murder trial of a man accused of choking and beating a 75-year-old man to death, then torching his body. According to the Santa Fe New Mexican jurors told a judge last week that they were at a standstill on a verdict for Anthony Yepez’s trail, the judge asked them to continue to deliberate.

Yepez and his girlfriend, Jeannie Sandoval, are accused of murdering George Ortiz in his apartment in 2012 then pouring cooking oil on him and setting him on fire.

Yepez faces life in prison if found guilty. Sandoval pleaded guilty to second degree murder last year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
