GALLUP, NM (KRQE) – A Gallup teacher under fire for his Facebook post about parents is now apologizing.
Andrew Gibbons, a technology teacher at Juan de Onate Elementary School, made a joke about school being cancelled today, 4/20, the unofficial pot holiday.
Gibbons’ caption for the picture said, “you know Gallup is bad when the schools are canceled just for one day because so many parents are going to be high. Haha, jk.”
Parents however were not laughing.
Gibbons has now posted an apology on his Facebook page saying in part “I was raised by drug dealers and know better than most that this is something that shouldn’t even be joked about. I love you Gallup and it won’t happen again.”
The school district is still deciding if it’s going to take any action against gibbons. Parents told us an apology is all they really wanted.
