ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police say the man at the center of a SWAT situation that locked down an Albuquerque neighborhood is now in custody.

Police started roping off the area around 11 a.m. Friday in the neighborhood near Eubank and Menaul.

The Albuquerque Police Department says 22-year-old Dakota Cook was the suspect. He was wanted on warrants for aggravated assault on police, aggravated eluding and auto theft.

Police say he was taken into custody safely.

Cook was arrested in February after police say he led Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase in a stolen car. According to court records, he was hit with the aggravated fleeing, assault on a peace officer and car theft charges in December.
