MANZANO, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police say the search for the missing Albuquerque woman has been suspended indefinitely but they haven’t said why.
Police along with Search and Rescue have spent Saturday searching the entire State park for 51-year-old, Barbara Baca.
Earlier Saturday search crews said they’d covered all of the ground in the park with no signs of the missing woman.
“We’ve covered enough of the park to be confident she is not located on the park,” said Wes Crownover of New Mexico Search and Rescue.
The search began at the Red Canyon campsite in Torrance County Friday. State Police showed up Saturday to help in the rescue efforts.
Baca’s family said she got in a fight with her boyfriend and left their campsite in the middle of the night barefoot. They said she also took a small Yorkie with her.
“At this point we’re extending our search just outside the park areas and boundaries of the parks,” Crownover said earlier Saturday.
It’s unclear why the search was called off indefinitely.
KRQE will have more information as soon as it available.
