Alamogordo child tests positive for methamphetamine

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – An Alamogordo man has been arrested after his young son tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police say someone reported Freddy Padilla to the Children Youth and Families Department saying his 6-year-old son was forced to live in terrible conditions.

CYFD conducted an investigation and got a court order for a sample of the boy’s hair. The hair tested positive for methamphetamine exposure. Police say it was consistent with what would be found in a regular drug user’s system.

Padilla is charged with child abuse. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
