Former Colfax County deputy faces additional drug related charges

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A former Colfax County deputy is facing new charges.

45-year-old Vidal Sandoval is accused of offering police escorts to drug dealers in exchange for drug money. FBI agents went undercover to catch him in the act.

Sandoval was initially charged with drug trafficking but now a grand jury has tacked on charges of theft of government property. Prosecutors say during two undercover FBI operations he took nearly $10,000 of FBI money.

Sandoval faces a possible 40 years in prison.
