ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It looks like the answer to what’s next in the James Boyd shooting case will come Thursday.
District Attorney Kari Brandenburg has scheduled a press conference.
She filed murder charges against officers Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez for shooting homeless camper James Boyd in 2014.
Last week, a judge took her off the case saying it’s quote “necessary to ensure the appearance of fairness and public trust in the justice system.”
Questions were raised about a possible conflict of interest because the Albuquerque Police Department was investigating Brandenburg for allegedly bribing burglary victims, to keep them from pressing charges against her son.
Brandenburg can either appeal the ruling or appoint another prosecutor.
KRQE News 13 will know her decision Thursday at 10 a.m.
