State Fair makes deal with new midway operator

*Correction: KRQE News 13 mistakenly reported that attendance and revenue were both down last year. That is not the case. Attendance was up about 8-percent and revenue was up about 11-percent.

ALBUQUERQUERQUE (KRQE) – The general manager of the State Fair says the event is in much better shape thanks to a deal negotiated with a new midway operator. General Manager Dan Mourning briefed the State Fair commission Thursday regarding the agreement with Reit-Hoffer shows.

The deal will provide the fair with a larger slice of revenue from rides as well as $25,000 for advertising and another $25,000 for capital improvements to the fairgrounds in Albuquerque. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
