FT. DEFIANCE, Ariz. (AP) — Officials on the Navajo Nation are searching for a man who fired shots in a northeastern Arizona housing complex.

Tribal spokesman Deswood Tome says no one was injured but police are taking extra precaution following a shootout last month that killed a police officer and injured two others.

Residents of about 100 homes in Ft. Defiance were asked to remain inside and lock their doors Friday after police got a call about a gunman.

Tome says police are going door-to-door looking for the man.

He says witnesses on scene reported hearing multiple shots fired around noon Friday.

Law enforcement from around the region, including the FBI, also responded.
