SANTA FE (KRQE) – A 21-year-old Santa Fe man is behind bars after he burglarized a car and lied to police. The Santa Fe Police Department said officers responded to reports of a suspicious person on Hickox Street at 4:00 p.m. Monday.

There officers encountered Jesse Owens. Police said Owens gave officers a fake name and date of birth. However, Owens’ story didn’t add up and officers were able to gather evidence linking Owens to the car burglary.

SFPD said Owens has been charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and concealing ID.
