City of Carlsbad offers developers building incentives

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – The city of Carlsbad, N.M. is now offering an incentive to home developers.

Carlsbad’s Department of Development is proposing an incentive plan to encourage developers to build more affordable housing. The city is giving $15 per square foot up to a maximum $22,500 handout.

The incentives would be paid to the developer from a city fund. Developers must agree to an affordable rent to qualify for the incentive. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
