ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Governor Susana Martinez was in Albuquerque on April 2nd, signing legislation establishing a Rio Grande trail commission. State Representative Jeff Steinborn (D-Las Cruces) introduced the bill to create a commission to make a 500 mile trail across New Mexico.

The trail is being compared to the Appalachian Trail or the Continental Divide Trail.

The trail would tap into New Mexico’s already existing trail network including Albuquerque’s bosque and paths in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument near Taos, N.M. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
