ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – When he left the University of New Mexico football team some may have thought David Vega was done. It wasn’t long before the gutsy quarterback surfaced on the roster of the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys. Vega is going through his first spring practice at Highlands and is glade his senior season will include football.
“It’s great,” said Vega. “Its just a new experience I had to get here and get accustomed to what was going on around here in Vegas, but its been a great experience so far. It all starts with the season though, we have to have a successful season, we have to have successful spring ball starting today, and the future will hold for what it holds for me.”
Vega was a fan favorite at New Mexico. At Highlands he has been reunited with a former Lobo coach. Jeff Mills is in his first season and was a former Defensive Coordinator at New Mexico. Jared Chester caught up with both men and reports from the Highlands campus.
