Band trio uses unique, handmade instruments

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- A local band with a unique sound, uses a unique instrument. Zia Conservatory is a three man band who consists of Hector Pena, Devon Hall, and Jackie Jones.

Two out of the three use a unique instrument that was hand made by the lead singer, Hector Pena.

While surfing the internet, around three years ago, Pena stumbled upon a handmade cigar box guitar. He was so inspired that he himself began to make these for himself and band members.

Making these guitars became Pena’s passion and the sound that comes from them is very pleasing to the ear.

Zia Conservatory plays old-time folk and blues music with handmade acoustic instruments.
