Law enforcement and emergency services prepare for Chimayo pilgrimage

Santuario de Chimayo

CHIMAYO, N.M. (KRQE) – The annual pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayo is right around the corner and emergency management teams are already preparing.

Several law enforcement agencies, emergency services and safety regulators are working together to ensure public safety. Agencies from several local pueblos, the City of Española, as well as Rio Arriba County and Santa Fe County have already begun coordinating traffic flow and emergency preparations.

Vendors should check for proper vending permits and those who plan on participating should walk against traffic, dress in weather-appropriate clothes and stay hydrated.
