Metro Baseball Championships start

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Metro Baseball Championships started Monday with number one seed La Cueva a winner. The Bears beat the 16 seed Highland Hornets 13 to 1. With two outs in the bottom of the second the Bears put up six runs. Austin Bell got the runs going when he hit a three run triple to left to score a pair. Later in the inning Mitchell Cantwell drove in three more runs with a three run double.

The four seed, Volcano Vista, hung a loss on 13 seed Albuquerque High in day one. The Bulldogs made a rally in the top of the sixth inning. Trailing 3 to nothing the Bulldogs would get a pair of runs. The second would come after an RBI double from Sam Martinez. Volcano Vista made a pitching change. Salomon Ware struck out the side and the Bulldogs never scored again while Volcano Vista added three more runs to win 6 to 3. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
