Meeting set to discuss SunZia project

WHITE SANDS MISSLE RANGE, N.M. (KRQE) – The state land commissioner who pulled the emergency brake on a massive electric transmission line is scheduled to speak at a public meeting Tuesday night. The $2 billion SunZia project would carry electricity generated by renewable resources to much of the west.

A portion of the line would run over White Sands Missile Range and state trust land.

Federal officials gave the project the green light, but New Mexico Land Commissioner Aubrey Dunn issued a 60-day suspension after meeting with developers, saying the project needs more review.

The meeting will take place at the Luna Country Courthouse from 5:30 to 7 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
