Young musicians showcased with NM Philharmonic

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The New Mexico Philharmonic will perform a neighborhood concert with winners of the Music Guild of New Mexico’s Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition for Piano and Strings.

Musicians will perform award-winning composer Daniel Steven Craft’s new piece, “The Tree Not the Pyramid” and Maurice Durufle’s “Requiem, Op. 9,” written in tribute to the composer’s late father and performed by Quintessence: Choral Artists of the Southwest.

The concert showcases Albuquerque’s young musicians from the competition that is in its 23rd year.

The concert takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at St. John’s United Methodist Church.
