LAS VEGAS (KRQE) – New Mexico Department of Transportation crews in Las Vegas have been busy all night long. Crews got to work around 6:30 p.m., loading up plows with salt and cinder to take out onto roadways.
It was the second time this week the area has been hit by snow. Snow plow operators had just enough of a break on Monday and Tuesday to get their equipment ready for Wednesday night’s snowfall.
“The roads are going to get bad throughout the night,” said Richard Garcia, manager of the Las Vegas District of the NMDOT. “If you don’t need to be on the road, stay home. But obviously, it’s during the week, so we’re going to have a lot of commuters between here and Santa Fe.”
Garcia says their top priority is keeping I-25 clear. More snow is expected on Thursday.
